Aztec research (oldham library visit)

Ancient Mexico & Central America by Susan Toby Evans

This is a photograph of some aztec art work from a temple .

A piece of cloth which an aztec painting a god onto .I think that the colours are really vivid for something so old . The colours link to my colour palette . The aztecs would also have used natural resources to create their paint and dyes like the American Indian tribes .

An Aztec stone tablet . I found the pattern interesting on this carving , the angular curves are really elegant but they have depth and angle to them aswell . I definately want to use these kind of curves in my textiles sampling .

These are statues of gods heads on the side of an Aztec temple . The way that they use strange patterns and shapes to make up the heads are really facinating ,

Again these angular swirls are really interesting , i could definately incorporate these patterns into a garment . I will sample these patterns in textiles and try to add them to an American Indian Pattern .
